Custom Enclosure Panel Fabrication

Custom Enclosure Panel Fabrication
ControlTech Systems July 2026

This project involved the design and fabrication of custom metal enclosure panels for an industrial control system manufacturer. The enclosures were engineered to protect sensitive electrical and automation equipment while providing durability, precise fitment, and a professional finished appearance for industrial environments.

The manufacturing process combined precision fiber laser cutting, CNC forming, welding, and powder coating to produce high-quality enclosure panels that met the customer's engineering specifications. To support the client's lean manufacturing operation, all finished components were delivered using a just-in-time (JIT) schedule, ensuring production continuity while minimizing inventory requirements.

Scope of Work

Our responsibilities for this project included:

  • Design support and manufacturability review.

  • Fiber laser cutting of 14-gauge steel sheets.

  • CNC press brake forming and bending.

  • Precision welding and assembly.

  • Surface preparation prior to coating.

  • Powder coating in customer-specified color and finish.

  • Final dimensional and visual inspection.

  • Just-in-time (JIT) packaging and delivery.

Manufacturing Capabilities

The project utilized a fully integrated fabrication process, including:

  • 6kW fiber laser cutting.

  • CNC press brake forming.

  • MIG welding for enclosure assembly.

  • Surface grinding and edge finishing.

  • In-house powder coating.

  • Precision dimensional inspection.

  • Batch traceability and production documentation.

Production Performance

The enclosure panels were manufactured to achieve high quality and dependable delivery performance, including:

  • Precision fabrication based on approved engineering drawings.

  • Consistent dimensional accuracy for simplified assembly.

  • Uniform powder-coated finish with excellent durability.

  • High repeatability across production batches.

  • Just-in-time deliveries synchronized with the customer's production schedule.

  • Reduced lead times through integrated in-house manufacturing.

Quality Assurance

Every enclosure panel underwent comprehensive quality verification before shipment, including:

  • Incoming material inspection.

  • Dimensional verification throughout fabrication.

  • Weld quality inspection.

  • Surface finish and coating inspection.

  • Powder coating adhesion verification.

  • Visual inspection for cosmetic quality.

  • Final inspection and packaging approval.

Results

The project successfully delivered custom-fabricated enclosure panels that met the client's requirements for precision, durability, and appearance. By integrating laser cutting, forming, welding, and powder coating within a single manufacturing process, production efficiency was improved while maintaining consistent product quality. The implementation of a just-in-time delivery program enabled the customer to reduce inventory costs, streamline production planning, and maintain uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
